And this week, I participated in the Daily Create!

Aloha all -
I greatly enjoyed this week's activity.  We were tasked to participate in The Daily Create - a place for "spontaneous creativity" through daily challenges.  It actually ended up being quite interesting and fun!
For my first day, I took a picture of "a light in the dark."

My second contribution involved creating a poem by using each word of a poem as the last word in each line of your poem. Now, I'm not a writer by any means, but here's what I came up with...

My Love

I hear a voice, is it my love’s?
He is a precious gift.
Live without him, I cannot.
Without him, where would I be?
My heart has been given.
Please be kind to it.
It is patient and it waits.
Be the one I can talk to.
Be the man I need you to be.
Always make me feel accepted.
(Based on a poem by Rabindranath Tagore)

And drumroll please.....for my 3rd and final (although I think I might keep this up) submission, the challenge was to "Take one picture of your world in a nutshell."

So far, my photos have not showed up on The Daily Create website although I tagged it correctly...still trying to figure it out.  Have any of you had the same problem?  I appreciate any suggestions.  I'm hoping it'll show up soon.

A hui hou,

  1. Hi Terri!

I think for the TDC tasks, the pictures won't always show up. I can't be certain, but I think the admins on the site keep an eye on tagged photos and then add them to the post. I could be wrong though.

    1. Thanks, Chester! Maybe it'll just take some time to least, it's good to hear that most likely, it's not something I did or didn't do - lol!

  2. Aloha Terri: I commented on Rick's blog to let him know that I was going to work from the bottom up in commenting on my classmate's blogs. I mentioned to him that oftentimes we start from the top and forget the folks whose names start with letters in the 2nd half of the alphabet so I am making a concerted effort to connect with classmates who I've never had an ETEC course with before.

I must say you have taken very quickly to all the assignments in this class and have submitted nice photo posts to the Daily Create site, good posts to our twitter site, and a very thorough introduction of yourself in our first personal intro assignment.

So, do you think you will eventually become a blogger for your work? Would you use your blog as a way to conduct counseling and guidance to your college students and others beyond Hawaii or to provide tips to other counselors about the challenges and solutions you have encountered in your work? My sister is a Dean of Students at a huge college on the mainland and is sometimes at her wits end (or totally exhausted from the drama) and needs ideas of what to say to students or what to do in a certain situation. What tech resources do you have available as a counselor? Are there wiki groups that you belong to? My apologies for all the questions as I find your career very interesting and have toyed with the idea of getting another masters or certificate in counseling for adults in higher education (if there is such a thing).

  3. Aloha Luisa -
Mahalo for your comments! I love your comment on starting from the bottom - you're so right - lol! I have considered creating a blog for work, but haven't quite got around to it yet. I think it may be a good idea as another way to connect with my students or other counselors. Currently as far as technology, I use email, Skype and Facebook to connect with my students, but incorporating a blog may be a useful addition. As I'm sure you can relate, it's a matter of just finding the time....Look forward to learning with you this semester.
    Take care,
